Groundbreaking 12-Inch, 10-Inch and 8-Inch Models Boast Long-Throw Drivers Plus Power, Accuracy and Room-Filling Bass at Affordable Prices

CES ’06, LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2006 — Sunfire Corp., a specialist in the design, manufacture and marketing of high-end audio/video components, home theater solutions, and subwoofers for the custom installation and custom retail markets, introduces a breakthrough line of single-driver Powered Subwoofers at affordable prices at the 2006 International Consumer Electronics Show.

Designed by legendary audio innovator Bob Carver– a master at delivering the most output from the smallest enclosures — the new D-12, D-10 and D-8 Powered Subwoofers with long-throw, audiophile-grade drivers produce powerful, accurate low-bass performance in compact cabinets only slightly larger than their 12-inch, 10-inch and 8-inch woofers.

Each model boasts Sunfire’s proprietary High-Pressure, High-Back-EMF technology in addition to a 1,000-watt (RMS) demand-responsive, high-current power amplifier, and a 30-100Hz crossover control with bypass that makes it easy to integrate the subs with main speakers. A zero to 180-degree phase control further permits perfect integration with speaker systems.

Sunfire’s High-Pressure, High-Back-EMF technology makes it possible for each subwoofer to deliver pulse-pounding bass in a compact cabinet without sacrificing speaker efficiency, overheating the voice coil, or possibly damaging the driver. A larger than usual speaker magnet enables the woofer to operate in its sweet spot without the chance of being overdriven, and also operate much more efficiently than would otherwise be the case. The High-Back-EMF motor structure controls the amount of current that flows in the voice coil, which determines how hot — in this case, how cool — the coil remains, also contributing to greater operating efficiency.

The subwoofers are easy to install and use, and share such user-friendly features as a volume control to individually adjust the level of each sub’s room-shaking bass, Power On and Standby LED indicators, speaker-level inputs with 5-way gold-plated binding posts that simplify connection to the speaker outputs of a receiver, a line-level input that makes it easy to connect directly to the subwoofer output on an A/V receiver or processor, a line-level output to directly connect powered full-range speakers, an easily accessed rear-panel fuse, and a standard removable power cord.

The flagship D-12 Powered Subwoofer features a large 12-inch woofer, a powerful 1,000-watt amplifier, a frequency response of 18Hz-100Hz (+/-3dB), and a maximum output of 108db. The cabinet measures only 13.5 inches on each side.

The D-10 Powered Subwoofer features a generous 10-inch woofer, a powerful 1,000-watt amplifier, and a frequency response of 20Hz-100Hz (+/-3dB), and a maximum output of 105db. The cabinet measures only 11.5 inches on each side.

The ultra-compact D-8 Powered Subwoofer features an 8-inch woofer, a powerful 1,000-watt amplifier, and a frequency response of 22Hz-100Hz (+/-3dB), and a maximum output of 102db. The cabinet measures only 9.75 inches on each side.

The subwoofers’ cabinets, handsomely clad in black ash vinyl, are heavy-duty three-quarter inch MDF enclosures designed to resist vibration for tighter bass. All the models have been designed and tested to meet nearly 200 international safety and performance standards, including ETL/C, covering the U.S and Canada, and CE, covering Europe (120- and 230-volt models are also available).

Sunfire’s new D-12, D-10 and D-8 Powered Subwoofers will be available from authorized Sunfire dealers by the end of First Quarter 2006 at suggested retail prices of $899, $799 and $649. They were seen with Sunfire’s other outstanding products in the Sunfire penthouse suite on Floor D of the Mirage Hotel during the show.
