Sony XAV-602BT Head Unit

Sony just announced the XAV-602BT smartphone connected, 6.1-inch in-dash touchscreen CD/DVD head unit with MirrorLink and optional XA-NV300T GPS navigation module with TomTom user interface and mapping technologies. Sony’s exclusive App Remote technology for Android and iOS devices unifies entertainment and control functions into a single source list that can be safely displayed and controlled directly from the receiver. App content is displayed on the smartphone while audio content plays through the speakers.

Exclusive to Android devices, the enhanced App Remote technology for the new XAV-602BT head unit adds a voice user interface for voice control of apps and functions such as navigation and music playback, notification readouts including RSS feeds, Twitter, etc., and text message reply.

With Sony’s advanced sound engine and dynamic reality amp with 52 watts x 4 high power plus a 4.1 multi-channel surround sound and virtual center speaker, drivers experience a louder and clearer sound that is distinctly Sony. With unique sound processing technologies, listeners hear dynamic bass and soaring highs with clarity and less distortion for an unmatched music and movie experience. Also unique to Sony is enhanced radio reception by a digital clarity tuner that improves stereo channel separation and sound quality even while driving in areas with weak FM signal coverage.

The XA-NV300T navigation module delivers GPS and a USB connection and includes an SD card, which houses the TomTom map. Users simply connect the optional XA-NV300T GPS module and have continuous access to TomTom’s IQ Routes, the world’s biggest real travel time database. Drivers never worry about network connections or data costs because the system works independent of the phone.

Standard Features
Integrated Bluetooth with simple secure pairing supports a complete music streaming experience, allowing wireless playback, track control, and display of song information from Bluetooth enabled MP3 players or smartphones.

The XAV-602BT receiver also offers front and rear USB connectivity for Walkman, iPod, iPhone, Android, Blackberry and other compatible USB devices. The Pandora-ready units let consumers listen to and control Pandora streaming content through connected iPhone, Android and Blackberry phones.

In addition, the XAV-602BT AV receiver includes a Dynamic Color Illuminator for different light effects and five-volt front, rear and sub RCA preamp outputs. App Remote features simplifies customization of sound settings such as volume, sub control, EQ, fader, balance, etc., for both Android and iOS devices.
