SANYO, a world leading digital camera manufacturer, debuts the Xacti CG9, an exceptionally easy-to-use and affordable MPEG-4 digital camcorder with 9.1 megapixel still image capability. The CG9 features an advanced CMOS image sensor for capturing video and stills, and employs the latest, high-performance MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 video codec.

Featuring a truly pocket-sized design and ergonomic shape, the CG9 is designed to easily upload high quality video and high resolution still photos to the Web in formats optimized for instantly sharing on social networking sites like YouTube, Facebook, MySpace and others. Users can also upload video and still images to a wide variety of viewing devices like iPod and other portable digital media players. Easy and fun to use wherever inspiration strikes, the CG9 is an advanced, ultra-convenient solution for recording and sharing digital video and still images.

The SANYO Xacti CG9 will be available in the U.S.A. starting in mid-April 2008. Available in Silver or Black, the CG9 has an MSRP of $279.99*.

“The SANYO Xacti CG9 is a high-performance digital video and still camera in one sleek, compact package,” said Tom Van Voy, Vice President and General Manager of SANYO’s Audio Video Division. “It offers great performance and exceptional value to those buying a camcorder for the first time and everyone who wants to easily capture their special memories and share them in a whole new way.”

High-Quality Video, Easy Web Use
Video is recorded in the advanced MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 format encoding technology. This advanced compression delivers exceptional video clarity and detail while maintaining the smallest file size possible. Users can record up to one hour of video per gigabyte of available memory (TV-HQ mode) on a standard SD or SDHC memory card. SDHC cards up to a capacity of 32 gigabytes are supported.

Photos and movies are easily copied and loaded on a personal computer or uploaded and shared on the Internet for online use on blogs, video-sharing websites and personal websites.

CMOS Image Sensor
High resolution 9.1-megapixel CMOS sensor allows movies to be recorded and played back at a smooth rate of 60 fps (TV-HR mode).

Face-Chaser
“Face Chase” Function
Face Chaser technology recognizes and automatically focuses on up to 12 faces in each still image.

9.1-megapixel Still Images
The CG9 captures 9.1-megapixel still photos and provides excellent low-light performance.

Sequential
Sequential Photo Setting
Sequential photo setting lets you take up to 10** photos in rapid succession with a shutter speed of 5 frames per second (fps).

5x Optical Zoom
The CG9 features a newly developed high-power 5x optical zoom with a bright maximum aperture of f/3.5 (wide) and f/3.7 (tele). The camera features eight groups and eleven total lenses. Combined with the 12x digital zoom, the HD700 provides up to 62.5x zooming capability.

Large 2.5-inch Display
The Xacti CG9 features a large 2.5 inch amorphous silicon TFT Liquid Crystal Display (LCD). The bright display flips out from the camera and rotates to allow taking great video or still images from otherwise-difficult-to-view positions. This is especially useful when shooting in large crowds or in small rooms.

Mac OS Compatible
The Windows compatible CG9 is also designed to work with Apple’s full complement of video editing applications including the iMovie 08. Easily edit your movies and add them to your website or YouTube for sharing or create versions for iPod, iPhone or the Apple TV.

Convenient SD/SDHC Memory Card Storage
The SANYO Xacti CG9 records high-quality video and photos directly to a standard SD or SDHC Memory Card (sold separately). The camcorder can record up to one hour of MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 video per gigabyte of available memory (TV-HQ mode).

Random Access
Each video is recorded as an individual MPEG-4 and each still as a JPEG so you can have true random access allowing you to review a specific image or video quickly and easily, without waiting for tape rewinding or fast forwarding.

Xacti-CG9
Ergonomic Design
The Xacti series has become known for its ergonomic design. The CG9 is ideal for convenient, one-handed use with larger, easier to use function buttons and a comfortable, rounded grip. Easy-to-hold and easy-to-shoot, the CG9 makes it easy to capture that special moment every time. The CG9’s thoughtful design also allows level filming when used with a tripod.
