JBL and Fashion Brand Roxy Co-Create Headphones

JBL, Inc., a division of Harman International Industries, Incorporated, and Roxy, a brand of Quiksilver, Inc., announced today a new line of ear-bud, in-ear and over-the-ear headphones targeted at the tech-savvy market of music trendsetters. The headphones combine legendary, award-winning JBL sound technology with Roxy’s fashion sense to create a unique line ideal for those with adventurous lifestyles. The Reference 230, Reference 250 and Reference 430 come in blue/green and orange/pink. Perfect for the out-and-about music-loving fashionista, each style is lightweight and easy to carry. The affordably priced collection will be sold online at www.roxy.com/jbl, globally at Roxy/Quiksilver stores and premium retail stores nationwide.

The Reference 230 ear buds utilize a closed-back design that enables listeners to block outside noise while enjoying hours of comfort. The Reference 250 in-ear headphones’ semi-open-back design features an inline book-style microphone for answering phone calls with the push of a button.

Reference 430 over-the-ear headphones help minimize ambient noise, and isolate sound so that music fans can enjoy their tunes the way they’re intended to be heard. With power reaching 50mV, and sensitivity ranging from 98dB to 104dB SPL, clear highs and distortion-free lows come standard with these special-edition headphones.

While other companies have simply thrown ideas at the wall to see what stuck, JBL, Inc., and Roxy formed a strategic union of technology and style to build a line of beautiful and powerful audio accessories designed by women for women. Internal research made one thing clear: Music is a huge part of everyday living, whether it’s listened to inside or outside. Furthermore, Brunel University research found that listening to motivational music boosts endurance by 15 percent.

“Music is such a huge part of girl’s lives. It’s what drives them in competition; it’s what brings back memories of a certain place or a certain event,” says Danielle Beck, Roxy’s director of entertainment and sports marketing. “Listening to music with great sound technology makes all the difference.”

“The JBL brand continues to reach music lovers of every generation while preserving its long heritage of bringing great sound to the music industry,” states Susan Paley, director of business development for JBL, Inc. “These headphones represent the beginning of a long commitment to creating products for young women who appreciate great style and sound.
