Richard Grays Power Company Introduces the RGPC PowerBridge

New Orleans, LA — September 2005 — Richard Gray’s Power Company, LLC (RGPC) announced the RGPC PowerBridge. Designed and manufactured in the United States exclusively for the custom integration market, the PowerBridge is the only uninterruptible power supply (UPS) on the market that responds within 1-millisecond of a power failure to provide a sine wave output with the benefits of RGPC patented parallel, non-current limiting, and dual stage surge protection technology.

Unlike other UPS products on the market today that were originally designed for computer systems and networks, the PowerBridge was built from the ground up exclusively for the custom install market. Unique to the PowerBridge is IntelliGray technology — the ability to actually “learn” the AC line and store that data in memory to use as a reference for determining if and when to switch to battery power. The PowerBridge samples several hundred points of each and every cycle of the AC wave form in order to detect any abnormal power fluctuations and switch to battery power seventeen times faster than any other UPS currently available.

One of the most common problems inherent in traditional UPS designs is one of limited available current. The battery backup inside most UPS products is employed 100% of the time, when it is only needed, on average, 2% of the time. RGPC applied their same parallel technology found in their other products to the PowerBridge so that no electronic components are in the AC path rendering the UPS “invisible” to the components connected to it and also imparting no adverse sonic “signature” of its own. While in “stand-by” mode (waiting for a power outage) the PowerBridge functions exactly as an RGPC 600S providing clean, unrestricted parallel power via its six Hubbell outlets. Performance is also enhanced by a sine wave output that is synchronous with the AC line when switching to and from battery power — all attached equipment will see no interruption in the sine wave during these cycles — another first for any UPS.

“We wanted to create a UPS with no peer, not simply another computer appliance”, stated Dick McCarthy, President and co-founder of RGPC. “Our dealers and installers demand technological innovation so we designed the PowerBridge with a consortium of the industry’s leading designers, installers and engineers. We believe the result is the most advanced UPS ever brought to market.”

Convenience features abound on the PowerBridge including; adjustments, alarms, and status settings that are accessible via the front panel display; “hot-swappable” batteries accessible via the front panel; and detachable rack mount ears. With the introduction of the PowerBridge brings another RGPC first; an RS-232 port that will enable installers to integrate all system components as well as four rear-mounted contact closure outputs for integration with third party control systems.

MSRP of the RGPC PowerBridge is $2,500 and is shipping Q4 2005. More information available at www.richardgrayspowercompany.com

Richard Gray’s Power Company (RGPC) designs, engineers and manufactures the only patented, non-current limiting Power Delivery System for the home theater market. RGPC’s parallel technology captures and restores instantaneously high-current-on-demand, working cycle-to-cycle to satisfy power hungry equipment while rejecting power spikes and smaller surges that lead to premature failure of sensitive electronics. RGPC products are proudly manufactured in the U.S.A. and are sold solely through their network of professional audio/video dealers and installers.
