UWB Wireless Surround Sound that WORKS!
Radiient’s Roomcaster uses UWB technology to deliver true digital surround sound with no drop-out

SANTA CLARA, CA — Nov. 1, 2007 — Radiient Technologies announced today its entree into the wireless audio market with the introduction of Roomcaster, a new UWB-based audio network technology that enables true wireless surround sound that is impervious to signal disruptions.

Roomcaster can be employed as embedded technology by any manufacturer of surround-sound speakers or as a retrofit technology by consumers who want to turn their existing audio systems into a wireless audio surround-sound network.

According to Jano Banks, Radiient’s president and CEO, “The problem with other wireless speaker systems on the market is they aren’t fully wireless, and/or they’re unreliable — the audio drops out whenever a cordless phone rings, or someone walks in front of the source transmitter, or, my favorite, when someone turns on the microwave oven.”

Unlike other wireless systems, which operate in the 2.4 GHz band (where WiFi, Bluetooth, cordless phones, and microwave ovens exist), Roomcaster uses Ultra-Wideband technology (UWB), which operates in the 3 to 10 GHz range and offers reliable, super-high data rates. This enables systems using Roomcaster technology to deliver pristine, digital high fidelity to every speaker in the room with absolutely no drop-out or degradation of fidelity.

“All the speakers are wireless,” Banks adds. “Up to 5.1 today, and more in the future. Just put the speakers where you want them, and the Roomcaster system automatically configures itself for the optimal Home Theater audio performance. No need for hook-up manuals; there is no hook-up!”

“When we set out to design Roomcaster, we gave ourselves the requirement of no audio drop-out — ever,” says Banks. “To achieve this goal we had to invent a lot of technology on top of standard WiMedia UWB.” In addition to delivering superior sound quality while doing away with the need for a lot of complex wiring, Roomcaster is the only wireless system that can be used with any brand of speakers, audio or Home Theater equipment.

According to Dr. Thomas Mader, Radiient’s chief technology officer, “We intend for Roomcaster technology to become the de facto standard in wireless Home Theater. We’ve engineered it to fit seamlessly into existing systems and to take full advantage of the freedom and possibilities that wireless provides. By making Roomcaster technology the standard, and making it available for embedded or retrofit applications, we’re offering all consumers a choice, while ensuring interoperability.”
