Popular KEF Home Theatre Speaker System Recieves Innovative, Progressive Upgrades

The New KEF KHT5005.2 System Features All New Drivers, A Radical New Subwoofer and Dramatic Styling To Complement the Latest Flat Panel Displays

MARLBORO, NJ — August 25, 2006 — Enhancing an LCD or Plasma Television with high performance speakers just became much easier with today’s introduction of the KEF KHT5005.2 Home Theatre Speaker System. Based on the highly successful KHT5005, this new speaker package incorporates substantial design enhancements to improve upon the visual styling and the audio performance of its predecessor.

“With the incredible success of the KHT range, we were hard pressed to find particular areas for significant improvement,” said Alec Chanin, president of KEF America. “However, since the introduction of the original KHT5005 system in late 2003 we have developed key technology improvements in our high-end Uni-Q driver design which we have incorporated in the new KHT5005.2 system. Combine this with the inclusion of the radical new high performance HTB2 Subwoofer, and we are confident we have another winner on our hands.”

Each KHT5005.2 satellite and center channel speaker now features the latest generation of Uni-Q drivers originally developed for the more expensive KHT 6000 ACE Home Theatre Speaker System. The result is smoother high frequency response, wider overall dispersion so optimal sound can be enjoyed anywhere in the room. Additionally, higher maximum output with lower distortion for an even more realistic and dynamic home theater experience is achieved.

The patented Uni-Q driver achieves what audio engineers have sought for decades: to project an exceptionally broad frequency range from just a single point. Uni-Q places its aluminum dome tweeter in the acoustic center of a mid-bass cone, resulting in a near-perfect, single-point-source driver. This configuration ensures both drivers’ frequency ranges are delivered in-phase and in precise focus, providing the widest achievable dispersion, ensuring all listeners throughout the room enjoy optimal sound quality, including those outside of the typical “sweet spot.” Simply stated, the entire room is the “sweet spot.”

The KHT5005.2 satellite and center speakers are available in either matte silver or high-gloss black finishes to match the slim visual cues of the latest flat panel displays. Wall mounting the satellite and center speakers is fast and easy using the cleverly designed mounting system included with each speaker. New black speaker grilles, included with both available finishes, replace the KHT5005’s original grey speaker grilles for a cleaner and more modern appearance.

Accurate bass reproduction is essential for a realistic theater experience and KEF’s new generation HTB2 Subwoofer is more than up to the challenge. A sculpted object d’art on its own, the HTB2 sports a radical new design that complements modern decor housing a 10-inch bass driver along with a 10-inch Auxiliary Bass Radiator. The ultra long-throw driver coupled with a compact, ultra efficient 250 watt digital amplifier produces thunderously deep, yet well defined bass. The subwoofer also features an acoustically inert ABS-molded enclosure which may be mounted vertically or horizontally. A two-position phase switch and three-position bass boost switch lets users easily tailor the sound to their specific acoustic environment. KEF’s SmartBass ‘connect and go’ functionality means that set-up is quick and simple, right out of the box. The HTB2 Subwoofer is available in high gloss silver and high-gloss black finish.

The complete KHT 5005.2 Speaker System includes four satellite speakers (one pair for front and one pair for rear), one center channel speaker, and the HTB2 Powered Subwoofer to create a stunning 5.1 home theater experience. Optional desktop or floor stands available, sold separately. The system is available now for a retail price of $1,999.99.
