PerkinElmer Launches New SmartBlue, Digital Linear Array Camera

Highly Affordable, Dual-Output CCD Camera Delivers High Speed, Precise Imaging for Industrial Inspection Applications

Munich, Germany — Automatica 2006 – PerkinElmer Optoelectronics, a global technology leader in digital imaging, specialty lighting and optical detection technologies, today announced the availability of the new SmartBlue digital linescan camera for industrial inspection applications. The SmartBlue 2K pixel linear array camera incorporates high-end electronics, a digital interface and rugged industrial housing to meet the needs of demanding imaging applications such as flat panel and web inspection.

“The SmartBlue offers OEMs a high performance, linear array camera with the features they have come to expect – high sensitivity, fast readout, high dynamic range, and low image lag – but at a more affordable price,” said Norbert Burggraf, Global CCD Product Leader, PerkinElmer Optoelectronics.

The SmartBlue’s 80MHz pixel rate yields line rates up to 37 Hz without compromising its superb noise immunity, precise linearity and high charge transfer efficiency. It comes equipped with an industry-standard CameraLinkTM digital communication interface. Its user-controllable internal image processing make it faster and more convenient than alternatives, using fewer computer resources in what is likely an already over-burdened host computer. PerkinElmer’s SmartBlue camera incorporates the well-established Reticon photodiode arrays.

PerkinElmer’s SmartBlue camera will be on display for the first time at Automatica 2006 in Munich on May 16- 19. The camera will be featured at SVS-Vistek’s booth, # 206, Hall B1, held at the New Munich Trade Fair Center.

The SmartBlue is very competitively priced and customers may arrange for a SmartBlue demo by contacting their local PerkinElmer sales person.
