Lumagen Selects HQV To Power New Scaler Box

San Jose, CA–(Sept 6, 2005)– Lumagen Inc. is developing a new video processor box that incorporates the advanced Realta HQV video processing engine. The new Lumagen RadianceXD is slated for release in the second quarter of 2006. It will be the perfect companion for any home theater owner who wants to take advantage of the award-winning HQV powered by Teranex processing. Realta HQV adds to Lumagen’s own processing and calibration technology to help provide the ultimate home theatre experience.

“Lumagen products provide exceptional video quality, and that’s exactly why we decided to design around the Realta HQV video processor for our new flagship product,” said Jim Peterson, President and CTO of Lumagen Inc. “Realta HQV gives our new box a taste of Hollywood so that our customers can heighten their home theater experience each time they turn it on.”

Realta HQV incorporates true 10-bit video processing, full four-field motion adaptive video deinterlacing for both standard definition and high definition signals, temporal-recursive noise reduction, automatic multi-cadence detection, and pixel-based detail enhancement. It also performs the same level of video processing power–1 trillion operations per second– as the famous $60k Teranex Xantus box.

“Working with Lumagen is truly exciting for Silicon Optix because both companies firmly believe in providing the pinnacle of image quality for the home theater set up,” said Dennis Crespo, VP of Marketing at Silicon Optix. “It’s a great match of video expertise, and in the end the consumer ultimately benefits from years of invention and refinement.”

The Realta HQV processor has already received numerous awards and accolades, including the “Best of Innovations” award for the Embedded Technologies category at the 2005 Consumer Electronics Show, “Most Promising New Technology” and “Most Exciting New Company” from The Perfect Vision, “Best Buzz of CEDIA” from Insight Media, AVGuide Monthly’s “Best Product Overall,” Red Herring’s “Top 100 Innovators” award, Fred Kahn’s “Silver Best of CES” award, and most recently “Best Picture of the Show” at the Home Entertainment 2005 Show in New York City, from Tom Norton of UltimateAVmag.com.
