Furman Hits the Road With the All-American Rejects

Leading Rock Band Uses Furman Conditioners and Pedal Boards for Optimal Sound Quality in Live Performances

PETALUMA, Calif. — March 19, 2007 — Furman Sound, a world-leading provider of AC power management solutions, today announced that the All-American Rejects are using Furman Power Factor Pro conditioners and SPB-8C pedal boards for uncompromised sound on tour.

With a double-platinum album and a recent 2006 MTV Video Music Awards win for Best Group Video, the All-American Rejects have been in high demand. They toured U.S. colleges and universities throughout October, and followed that up by headlining the “Tournado Tour,” a multi-act event that stopped in over two-dozen cities before ending in late December.

To combat contaminated AC power and its effects during live performances, the All-American Rejects have chosen Furman Power Factor Pro conditioners. The conditioners are designed specifically for musicians and feature Clear Tone Technology, which lowers the AC line impedance supplied by wall outlets, and Linear Filtering, which suppresses noise dramatically and consistently. This results in outstanding dynamics, harmonics, and clarity, qualities that are often stolen from amplifiers by substandard power.

“When playing multiple venues, we never really know how the amplifiers are going to sound once they are plugged into the provided AC outlets,” said Tyson Ritter, vocalist and bassist for the band. “Sometimes we have to struggle with correcting buzzing sounds, or work at eliminating flat tones. But with the Furman products, we get a consistent, clear, and powerful sound. This is important to us, because we want to walk off the stage knowing our fans got every penny’s worth.”

Onstage, the band uses Furman’s newly introduced SPB-8C pedal boards. Featuring a solid, robust construction, the SPB-8C is built to last and maintain optimum performance under abusive on-stage conditions. The durable pedal board consists of a rugged yet light Velcro-covered polycarbonate platform with an extruded aluminum chassis, all protected by a durable hard-shell case with wheels and a retractable handle. This ensures secure, non-slip performance for effects boxes and pedals and easy transportation between gigs.

“The pedal board is really quite impressive,” said Nick Wheeler, guitarist for the All-American Rejects. “Not only does it hold all my pedals, but they always remain securely in place — no matter how hard I stomp on them. Having a pedal come loose in the middle of a song can be a disaster.”

The SPB-8C offers two levels of surge and short circuit protection, as well as Furman’s standard level of RFI/EMI filtering. The board is quiet, powering DC pedals without hum, due to the high-quality toroid transformer employed. Each DC output is rated at 120 mA, as well as being individually protected against shorts, guaranteeing that if one pedal goes out, the rest will continue to function. Further, these DC outputs are individually isolated, eliminating noisy ground loops.

“Furman has a wide range of products for professional musicians, and we are quite excited to have the All-American Rejects using them on tour,” said Dave Keller, senior VP of sales and marketing for Furman Sound and Panamax. “These are large venues with lots of fans. Our Power Factor Pro conditioners and SPB-8C pedal boards provide the band with reliable, consistent performance and the best-possible sound for the crowd.”

In addition to the PF-PRO conditioners and SPB-8C pedal boards, the All-American Rejects use four Furman PL-PLUS D II 15-amp power conditioners, and, in the studio, an HDS-6/HR-6 audio distribution system, and an HA-6AB headphone/monitor amplifier.
