FoneGEAR Prepares Chicago Area for a Hands-Free Future: Headsets and Earbuds help drivers comply with ordinance

foneGEAR hands free “Cord Free,” “Earclip” and “Earclip with flexible boom” ear buds and headsets have widespread appeal, are available online now

June 1, 2005 — Troy, MI– foneGEAR LLC (Troy, MI) — a leader in mobile communications accessories – today announced a promotional program, effective immediately, to help Chicago-area motorists obtain headsets to comply with that city’s newly enacted cell phone driving ban. Chicago-area drivers have until July 8 to purchase a hands-free device, or face fines of $50 and up for people who talk on hand-held phones while driving.

To help support this program, foneGEAR is offering a 20% discount on headset and earbud purchases made at the foneGEAR online store, accessible at www.fonegear.com. The coupon code CHICAGO must be entered at checkout to obtain the discount. In conjunction with this sale, foneGEAR has launched an online advertising campaign in the Chicago area to alert drivers to the ban and inform them that a foneGEAR headset is an excellent way to comply with the law.

foneGEAR offers several ways for drivers to stay hands-free in the car. The highly regarded CORD FREE magnetic induction wireless headset uses a low-intensity magnetic signal to transmit voice calls from cellular phones to a wireless earpiece. Cord Free offers compatibility with all cellular phones, long talk time, low power consumption, and is extremely cost-effective — and it costs less than the first ticket motorists would receive under the new law. It is powered by a single AA alkaline battery.

The foneGEAR hands free Earclip ear bud, available for both Universal and Nokia phone-specific applications, features a high-definition, noise-canceling speaker, and a power switch with dual on/off and mute capability – a feature available on several foneGEAR headset models. The Earclip ear bud is designed to comfortably grip the earlobe for security and may be used with either ear. foneGEAR hands free Earclip headsets have all of the features of the ear bud, but add a flexible boom for the microphone for users who prefer a more traditional headset appearance.

“The city of Chicago is joining other city and state governments in making their drivers hands-free in the car,” said Fred Creamer, foneGEAR’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Many companies are now requiring the same of their employees. This promotion allows foneGEAR to offer excellent products to the drivers of the Chicago area at unprecedented online pricing. All foneGEAR headsets are substantially less expensive than getting a ticket for driving without one.”
