The Samsung SyncMaster 193P turned in an Outstanding score for text, ranking second among recently reviewed 19-inch monitors. It performed particularly well on our Excel spreadsheet screen. On graphics, the 193P earned a mid-pack Very good score. The 193P also has an unusually flexible tilt function: The screen can be tilted back so far that it's parallel with the work surface. Its height, pivot, and tilt functions require only a light touch--some users may find these features overly sensitive--but they seem to stay put once they've been set. Pivot software is included. The CD-based documentation includes screen shots, which makes it an especially useful manual once printed out--even if those same illustrations mean printing could take a while.
Crisp text and a full range of adjustability features make this monitor suitable for reading long text documents and spreadsheets.
