Tech on the Big Screen and the Small

Readers discuss computers in the movies, technology in the Olympics, and goofy e-mail addresses.

What are your favorite movies that star computers? Emru Townsend made his list, and now it's your turn to add to it and discuss your favorites.

The Olympics are under way, and there's some great (and not-so-great) technology at the games. Tell us what you love or loathe about the Beijing Olympics.

Do you have a goofy e-mail address? It may reveal more about you than you intended. Some people feel that some e-mail addresses are unprofessional, while others feel that they are too personal to change. Do you have a goofy e-mail address? Join the discussion.

dec2955 says: How can anybody talk about movies staring computers and not list "Colossus: The Forbin Project" or "Wargames"?

unclew says: I'm glad he included "Tron," one of my all-time favorites. That movie received the props it deserved.

Mudgripb says: What about "Reboot"? i know it isn't a movie but it was a series that lasted for a good while. Everyone remembers Bob, Dot, Enzo, Friskit, and Glitch.

Ledoubleu says: What about "Short Circuit"?

mpheadley says: Logistically, everything may be going great, but this Olympics continues to disregard our First Amendment and nobody seems to care much. The games themselves may be going well, but at what cost behind the scenes? I wonder if there will be more negative stories about such issues once reporters come home to America and are able to speak openly.

Mcbarker says: I'm all for upholding First Amendment rights, but you guys seem to forget that these games are being held in China, not the US. American laws, ideals, cultural beliefs, or anything else American don't apply in China. It's that simple. When in China, one is subject to their laws. We may not like it, but that's the way it is.

Sligoker says: Besides Phelps and the old lady swimmer, I find these Olympics to be so staged and fake that it's hard to watch. I have a new dislike of the Chinese government so I guess thats worthwhile.

AuroraDizon says: I honestly disagree that everything is so far so good.

Adama says: This article seems to be right on track. I've seen some really goofy e-mail addresses out there. The funny part is, their owners think the addressess are actually cool.

Poweruser2 says: How about using your name or a version of your name for business and proper e-mail?.

Mjd420nova says: I chose my user name in 1986 when first given a company laptop for dispatch use. I selected my initials, the date it was given to me, and I tried VW but it was taken so I pick another car model like Porche. I finally found Nova wasn't being used so I settled for that. I have never used any other user name and it is mine everywhere I surf. Yahoo, Gmail, Excite, you name it, that's my user name.

Getmything says: The truth is that everything we do, reflects something about us. The fact that these fools couldn't figure that out till now is what is making them look at these discoveries as something new.

Aliph Jawbone Wireless Cell Phone Headset: Passes "mom" test. When I would talk to my mom while driving, she would always complain she couldn't hear me. With this, she couldn't even tell I was in the car. We could hear each other great.

LG Electronics VX-9700 Dare Black Cell Phone: Let's be clear. this is not an iPhone clone. this is the Dare. And quite simply is a great phone with extras. The iPhone is a small MP3 player/Mac computer in your hands that just happens to be a phone. If that is too much for you, then get the Dare. You will not be unhappy.
