Very much an "almost" system in terms of performance, the TS2 came close to grabbing the number-two spot on all our tests. Considering more than just raw horsepower, its features make it a well-rounded choice for most users. One feature that impressed us was the two 120GB hard drives in a RAID Level 0 setup. The terrific DVD-R/RW combo drive is paired with a DVD-ROM; aided by one FireWire and six USB 2.0 ports, it makes for some potentially interesting media work. The high-end nVidia Geforce4 Ti 4600 works with a 19-inch G410 Sony Trinitron display. While this is the only CRT in the bunch, the display is truly flat, and at 18 inches (viewable) offers plenty of visual real estate. As with any high-res CRTs, the Trinitron is a natural for video applications (where many LCDs still lag). Audio is almost as good but is an odd hybrid of an integrated six-channel audio SoundMax chip with a 2.1 Altec Lansing AVS300 speaker system. In terms of components, this machine is almost perfect. Fortunately, MicronPC is a direct vendor. Perhaps upping the one-year warranty and boosting the speaker choice will give the unit a little more pizzazz at a still reasonable price.
