REVIEW

The ViewSonic PJ260D ($1,000 street) just makes it into the sub-3-pound projector category, at 2.9 pounds. But that's still more than light enough to make it a convenient traveling companion. More important, it's easy to set up quickly and bright enough to project a reasonably large image even in a well-lit room. Built around a DLP engine with a native XGA (1,024 by768) resolution, the PJ260D measures just 2.6 by 8.3 by 6.6 inches (HWD), making it small enough to fit in most briefcases, even when snugly protected in its soft carrying case. The case also offers a pouch on one side, but I had trouble stuffing in the supplied remote, power cord, and VGA cable all at once, so you may need to pack at least one of the cables separately.

Bottom Line

The ViewSonic PJ260D suffers from an obvious rainbow effect, but on the plus side, it weighs just 2.9 pounds and throws a bright image for its size.

Pros

Lightweight. Bright. Good contrast ratio, with fully saturated color.

Cons

Highly prone to rainbow effect, with light areas breaking up into red-green-blue rainbows. Low volume.
