REVIEW
Coming as it does from Epson, a company with a well-earned reputation for high-quality photo printer output, the Epson Stylus Photo R1900 ($549 direct) boasts impeccable credentials. More important, it offers all the right features for the serious amateur photographer or professional on a budget. The R1900 can print photos at sizes up to 13 by 44 inches; it can print from sheets of paper or from a 13-inch-wide paper roll; and it uses pigment inks that offer both a wide color gamut and durability suitable for archival photos. Epson claims a print lifetime of 300 years in dark storage (as in an album), 200 years framed behind glass, and more than 50 years for photos exposed to air. As a convenience, the R1900 also prints on printable CDs. Most important, its photo quality is up to par for an Epson printer at this price.
