Iqua 603 SUN

review

A solar-powered Bluetooth headset seems like a pretty obvious innovation when you think about it: The sun charges the headset while you're wearing it, eliminating the need to connect it to a power source to juice up. The Iqua 603 SUN accomplishes exactly that. In fact, Iqua promises that its ground-breaking product provides "infinite" standby time and up to 12 hours of talk time. Despite the claim, the unit comes with a wall charger, and it also has a built-in mini USB port that can recharge the headset via laptop or desktop computer (cable not included). The company even goes so far as to say that you need charge it fully only one time—after that, only the heaviest users? will need to plug the headset in ever again. The 603 SUN accomplishes this feat with its photovoltaic cell, which grabs any available light to charge itself up and keep its battery topped off. And I'm happy to report that it actually works. While this eco-conscious product has a few flaws, it's a solid choice for anyone looking for a good-sounding headset.

Bottom Line

The Iqua 603 SUN Bluetooth headset not only sounds good, its integrated solar panel keeps it continually charged. Unless you're a heavy talker, you may never need to plug it in.

Pros

Crisp sound quality. Solar panel charges the unit without an AC adapter. Can be used with or without an ear hook.

Cons

Solar panel doesn't improve continuous talk time. No noise-canceling circuitry. Finicky volume controls.
