Logitech Z Cinema

Logitech Z Cinema
Full Set Front Speakers Front Full Set Angle

review

Logitech likes to announce CES products before the show begins, so we got an advance look at the company's newest 2.1 PC speaker system, the Z Cinema, and we're happy to report that it didn't disappoint. The Z Cinema comes with a heavy-duty remote whose tons of options are likely to excite those who have extensive media collections on their PCs but might scare someone looking for a simple, no-frills two-channel speaker set: It will definitely take you some time and effort to master the remote. The Z Cinema specializes in accessing media from a variety of sources via remote. It's not seamless—and the included Logitech software, while fun to use, can seem a bit intrusive when it pops up on your display every time you make a change. Regardless, the Z Cinema packs an impressive sonic delivery, with or without the SRS TruSurround HD effect activated.

Bottom Line

These speakers produce some solid low end and work well with Windows Media Center via the included, option-heavy remote. But controlling software remotely is not always intuitive.

Pros

Strong audio performance. Remote has a ton of features. Works with Windows Media Center. Integrates iTunes and other media libraries. Powerful, but not boomy, subwoofer.

Cons

Complicated remote. Software can feel intrusive. Controlling Windows Media Player and iTunes remotely can be tricky. Subwoofer is large.
