Hercules Deluxe Optical Glass

Hercules Deluxe Optical Glass
Hercules Deluxe Optical Glass Webcam Software Settings

review

At the rock-bottom price of just $24.95, the Hercules Deluxe Optical Glass can't possibly compete with the Creative Live! Cam Optia AF, the Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000, and other webcams costing four times as much. Or can it? Hercules packs a surprising amount of bang for the buck into this little camera, including a glass lens, four white LEDs, and even a headset for private video calls. It's a lightweight in the resolution department, but students and other budget-minded buyers should find it satisfactory for everyday use.

Bottom Line

This inexpensive, travel-friendly webcam offers a surprising number of extras, but video quality leaves much to be desired.

Pros

Low price. Snazzy design. Built-in LEDs help with low-light video. Versatile lens mount. Easy-to-use capture software.

Cons

Video resolution tops out at 640 by 480. Poor image quality. Problems with audio-video sync. Awkward manual focus ring.
