Bose SoundDock Portable

Bose SoundDock Portable
Front iPod and Remote Back

review

Bose's new SoundDock Portable looks a lot like the original SoundDock, which isn't portable at all. The funny thing is, this new dock isn't all that easy to transport, either. That's despite a hand grip, a retractable iPod tray, and the ability to blast audio at high levels on battery power. That's not to say the new SoundDock isn't an attractive, nice-sounding device. It's just a bit bulky to tote on that trip to Europe. More troubling is its $400 price tag, much too steep for an iPod speaker system.

Bottom Line

The Bose SoundDock Portable looks and sounds good, but its limited portability and hefty price tag detract from the overall package.

Pros

Pleasing sound quality. Attractive, minimalist design. Retractable iPod tray. Remote has good range.

Cons

Expensive. Portability is limited. Remote navigation could be better.
