Plantronics Voyager 855

Plantronics Voyager 855
Full Set Earphones Earphones, Volume Button

review

Bluetooth headsets can be a bit of a hassle—particularly if you're looking for a set that makes calls and plays music. Sure, you can buy a pair of stereo Bluetooth headphones, but unless they have a built-in mic, you'll have to remove them each time you make or receive a call. On the other hand, headphones that do have a mic—such as the Plantronics 590—are usually too bulky to wear all the time. Plantronics went back to the drawing board and came up with the Voyager 855, a Bluetooth headset with a surprise: a second, detachable earpiece for music. The Voyager 855 also packs in other niceties, such as AudioIQ sound enhancement, a sliding boom mic to better pick up your voice, and a sleek design. The result: the Voyager 855 is a good mono headset, but it disappoints in stereo mode.

Bottom Line

This stereo Bluetooth headset lets you listen to music and make hands-free calls using the built-in mic. But the Voyager 855's lopsided look and poor stereo sound quality make it better in theory than in practice.

Pros

Comfortable. Detachable stereo earpiece for music. Sliding boom mic improves call quality. Good battery life.

Cons

Poor stereo music sound quality. Set looks a bit strange when both earbuds are worn.
