review

It's no secret that the cellular companies use their cell phones as platforms for delivering subscription-based services in an effort to crank up your monthly bill. Many wireless providers now offer competent GPS solutions that are comparable to stand-alone hardware devices—but with a catch: For example, Verizon's VZ Navigator runs on several phones, but only on the Verizon network. Enter TeleNav's cell-phone–based solution. Like Networks in Motion (the back-end service provider for VZ Navigator), TeleNav is a GPS service provider. The difference here is that TeleNav's GPS navigation is available for purchase directly. The service is compatible with an extensive list of cellular carriers, including Sprint, Nextel, Cingular/AT&T, Quest and others.

Cons

3D features work on limited number of phones. Requires cellular data connection to work.
