Timex i-Control

Timex i-Control

review

With its 70-odd percent market share, the Apple iPod naturally plays a big role in many Americans' exercise routines. Nike and Apple addressed the space successfully with last year's Nike + iPod Sport Kit. The transmitter/pedometer combo got plenty of things right, but missed out on one important aspect of the iPod workout phenomenon, that being how incredibly difficult it is to adjust your music while running. Timex's i-Control, the latest entry in the company's exercise-minded Ironman line, seeks to change that, by placing iPod controls on your wrist, where they're easily accessible—even in the midst of a cross-country run.

Spec Data
  • Price as Tested: $125.00 List

Bottom Line

As a standard digital timepiece, the i-Control from Timex is pretty average. Decent sports features with basic iPod controls, however, do not a $125 watch make.

Pros

Good wireless syncing. Easy to program and use. Attractive design.

Cons

Pricey. Hard-to-press buttons. Limited sports features.
