Eurocom D900C Phantom

Eurocom D900C Phantom
Front Keyboard Angle

review

The Eurocom D900C Phantom ($5,000 direct) takes the term "desktop replacement" further than most laptops. It houses a desktop processor, the Intel Core 2 Duo X6800 Extreme Edition, and dual nVidia GeForce Go 7950GTX graphics boards arranged in SLI configuration. Its scores on our performance benchmark tests went through the roof. But before you get trigger-happy on the company's Web site, be prepared to buy a set of noise-cancellation headphones to offset the four loud fans, and find someone with a strong back to carry the Phantom's considerable heft.

Bottom Line

A desktop processor and SLI graphics makes the Eurocom D900C Phantom gaming laptop a beast. Unfortunately, the weight and price are just as beastly.

Pros

Extreme Edition desktop processor. nVidia SLI graphics. 1,920-by-1,200 screen resolution. Excellent performance numbers.

Cons

Features do not reflect the price. Bank-account-crippling price tag. Ho-hum design. Beastly weight. Loud fans.
