MSI Q677 Crystal Edition

MSI Q677 Crystal Edition
Angle Top Open Front Open

review

As one of the top three Taiwanese manufacturers of computer hardware, MSI Computers knows a thing or two about putting PCs together. MSI builds best-of-breed motherboards, graphics cards, computer cases, and pretty much anything that has to do with computer parts. It's only natural, then, for MSI to have its own line of laptops. The MSI Q677 Crystal Edition is a media laptop that has its cover inlaid with Swarovski crystals and integrates some useful media features that might make you actually consider spending $1,900 (street) for it. The only problem: You can't buy it direct; it's not available in retail outlets; and the only e-shop that has this model available is NewEgg.

Bottom Line

Partnering up with Swarovski and integrating good media features are nice touches, but the Q677 will have to increase its market presence in order to make a dent.

Pros

Swarovski crystals embedded in the cover. Number pad. DVI-I out. Great set of media features. An above-average graphics chipset.

Cons

No retail presence. Subpar battery life. Middling performance. Noisy mouse buttons.
