Toshiba Satellite U205-S5057

Toshiba Satellite U205-S5057
Front Open Optical Reader Back Open

review

The Toshiba Satellite U205-S5057 is an ultraportable that takes your budget needs into consideration while providing most of the goods to make your daily commute less cumbersome. It's only $1,299 (direct), a modest sum compared with its premium-priced competition from such popular brands as Lenovo, Sony, and even Dell. The U205-S5057 includes a built-in optical drive, dual-core processor, and Windows Vista Home Premium. It has limitations, such as meager battery life and Vista-capable components rather than the Vista Premium–ready ones found in the Dell XPS M1210 (Vista). But then again, this is a bargain ultraportable.

Bottom Line

This ultraportable has an integrated optical drive, but the below-average battery life makes it more of a of daily commuter's machine than a flight-friendly one.

Pros

Basement price. Integrated optical drive. Bright screen. Ultralight material.

Cons

Meager battery life and no extended battery options. Could use another stick of RAM.
