Historically, Canon's PowerShot line has included some really great-performing, high-quality compact digital cameras. From the A-series PowerShot A630 to last year's PowerShot SD550 Digital Elph—both Editors' Choice winners—the company has produced a series of excellent products. This is why I am a little disappointed with the highest-megapixel member of the PowerShot family, the PowerShot SD900 Digital Elph.

Bottom Line

This is an above-average ultracompact, but Canon needs to give consumers more.

Pros

Excellent image quality. Very good performance. Face-detection features worked well. Most high ISO settings were very clean. Excellent burst mode.

Cons

Canon needs to add more user-friendly menus. Video quality was mediocre. Not enough manual capabilities. Some flash shots were uneven. A bit pricey.
