review

LG is among a very small number of HDTV manufacturers that continue to offer flat-panel televisions equipped with an integrated digital video recorder (DVR). The 50-inch LG 50PC1DRA plasma TV is just such a hybrid. Sadly, its potential to reduce the clutter of increasingly crowded collections of home-theater gear is wasted by poor video-processing abilities and a screen with unimpressive image contrast.

Bottom Line

The LG 50PC1DRA is a 50-inch HD plasma that offers the convenience of a built-in DVR, but it spoils the fun with generally unimpressive image quality.

Pros

Integrated HD DVR. Good color accuracy and saturation.

Cons

Poor video processing. Unimpressive contrast ratio. HD recording restricted to cable and off-air sources.

Welcome to a revolutionary new dimension in LCD TV technology. With a depth of less than one inch at its thinnest point, and a contrast ratio of 1 million to 1, the AQUOS Limited Edition Series is the culmination of 35 years of Sharp’s LCD innovation. Unmatched picture quality, ultra-thin design, and low energy consumption: it will change the way you watch TV. Part of Sharp’s line of 120 Hz LCD TVs.
