There haven't been too many changes to the MP3tunes music store since we last looked at it, nearly two years ago. The site's admirable principles remain intact: It offers low-cost, DRM-free downloads, with a large portion—$0.60 of the $0.88 cost—going to the artists themselves. However, the interface is still rather clunky, with few options in the way of discovering new music. The song selection also continues to hover around 300,000, compared with the two million or so offered by competitors, including iTunes, Rhapsody, and even the similarly low-priced and independent artist–friendly eMusic. What really makes the site worth another look is not the music store at all, but rather the site's online storage feature, referred to as the Oboe Locker.

Bottom Line

For music lovers everywhere, the concept of unlimited online storage/streaming will likely prove too good to pass up.

Cons

Lengthy upload process. Dull music player IU. Some music player bugs. Unimpressive music store.
