Samsung YP-T9J (2 GB)

Samsung YP-T9J (2 GB)
Angle With Earphones Earphones

review

The Samsung YP-T9J is an attractive reminder to all PC owners that the Apple nano isn't the only pretty flash-memory player on the scene. With a $130 street price, the T9 is just a shade cheaper than the super-popular nano, and you also get video capabilities (though you shouldn't expect any fireworks in this department), a photo-storage and slide-show feature, and an FM tuner. That's not all: There's a voice recorder, too, text-document storage and viewing, and a couple of cheesy games that seem to require little skill but are nonetheless entertaining for a short while.

Bottom Line

Good-looking and tiny, the YP-T9J is a worthy adversary of the nano, especially for PC owners looking to get more bang for their buck. Nonetheless, it's not without some annoying flaws.

Pros

Tiny, sleek design. Larger screen than the Apple nano. Video capabilities. Good battery life.

Cons

Video playback often distorted. Lag time between tracks. Navigation not as simple as on nano.
