Like Sling Media's Slingbox Pro, Monsoon Multimedia's Hava Wireless HD lets you watch your television on any broadband-connected PC, anywhere in the world. The Hava differs from the Slingbox, however, in two ways. First, the device functions as a TV source for Microsoft Windows Media Center Edition's digital video recorder feature. Second, it connects to your network wirelessly, over 802.11g.

Bottom Line

The Monsoon Multimedia Hava Wireless HD's wireless connectivity and Media Center recording ability make it more convenient than the Slingbox—but only if you can deal with its major shortcomings.

Pros

Puts your television on any broadband-connected PC. Works with Windows Media Center's DVR functionality. Connects wirelessly to home networks. Decent video quality.

Cons

Interference from other wireless networks and/or WEP encryption can cause freezes and signal dropouts. Only supports WEP wireless security. Software not ready for prime time. Windows XP-only (Mac and mobile versions on the way). HD input doesn't work yet.
