As the shirt-pocket GPS market continues to grow, so does the number of products vying for your attention—and your cash. The newest entry in the portable navigation category is the WorldNav 3100 from TeleType, which is available in two versions: Deluxe ($399 direct) and Premium ($459). TeleType provided me with the Premium version for review, but I'll talk about differences between the models later.

Bottom Line

TeleType is moving in the right direction with the new WorldNav 3100 GPS. The extensive POI database, text-to-speech function, and low price make the WorldNav 3100 worth considering.

Pros

Text-to-speech function. Sensitive SiRF Star III receiver. Extensive POI database (Premium version).

Cons

Reflective screen. Issues with each of the media players. Lack of 2D north view. Limited information displayed in map view.
