The Polywell i680SLI ($3,250 direct; $3,999 with 24-inch widescreen LCD monitor) packs a forceful one-two punch. Not only does it feature Intel's latest quad-core QX6700 processor, but it's also one of the first systems to carry nVidia's new top-of-the-line GeForce 8800GTX graphics card.

Bottom Line

The Polywell Poly i680SLI's quad-core processor and nVidia 8800 GTX graphics make for a speedy system that can outperform older dual-card (and quad-card) graphic systems with "only" one graphics card.

Pros

Speedy quad-core CPU and 10,000-rpm drives. Single GeForce 8800GTX trounces older dual-card setups. Much quieter than older Polywell towers. Single graphics card reduces the price.

Cons

Overclocked dual- and quad-core systems will still outperform this one. Cheaper than other systems, but still pricey.
