review

It seems you can always count on Lowrance Electronics to break price barriers with each new automotive GPS product launch. The company did this with its iWay 500C and again with the iWay 350C—the first full-featured 3.5-inch portable GPS to break the $400 price barrier. Now, Lowrance has accomplished a similar feat with the new iWay 250C.

Bottom Line

The iWay 250C is an outstanding value and a solid GPS, but is marred by lengthy route-generation times.

Pros

Highly configurable screen with overlay and POI category options. "My Trails" adds breadcrumb trail to the map. Large POI database. Direct point-to-point routing with optional maps.

Cons

Limited routing options. Can't directly search POIs in other cities or near destinations. Lengthy route-generation time.
