Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T50

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T50
Angle Front With Charger

review

Some cameras remind me of the Who's rockin' groove, "See me, feel me"—you just can't wait to get your hands on them. Sony's recent ultracompact and new addition to its T-series, the 7.2-megapixel Cyber-shot DSC-T50, is a perfect example. This looker has a stunning design, comes in fantastic colors—the one I reviewed is a deep crimson—and sports a huge, 3-inch touch screen on its back. Generally, the camera performs quite well, but I found a few issues. Despite the company's claims of great low-light picture quality without using a flash, I found the images I took under these conditions to be just average. And then there's the price ($499.95 direct), which is too expensive, even for a stylish ultracompact.

Bottom Line

Sony's 7.2MP Cyber-shot DSC-T50 has a beautiful design and a nice touch screen and takes decent shots.

Pros

Beautiful 3-inch touch screen LCD. Wonderful design. Very good performance. Large text and on-screen buttons make it easy to navigate through menus.

Cons

A bit pricey. Some images too noisy. Lousy burst mode. No glass viewfinder.
