REVIEW

Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile: MeromAfter seeing the blazing speeds of the Intel Core 2 Duo (code-named Conroe) for desktops, I could only imagine what's in store for laptops. Just two months after the release of the Conroe, the first laptops with the Core 2 Duo processor, code-named "Merom," showed up on my bench. WinBook has paid its dues as a system builder for some time now, and despite being a lesser-known vendor, it has managed to keep pace with the latest technology. This lightweight media notebook is one of the first machines to arrive in PC Magazine Labs with the Intel Core 2 Duo 2.16-GHz T7400 and, boy, is it fast.

Although it boasts an extremely fast Intel Core 2 Duo processor, the T231's heat issues and poor battery life are hard to ignore.
