Altec Lansing inMotion IM500

Altec Lansing inMotion IM500
Front With Nano Angle With Case

review

The Altec Lansing inMotion IM500 is yet another Apple iPod speaker, but this one is designed specifically for the iPod nano. It's also very flat. At just 0.7 inches thick, it's even slimmer than the Logitech mm28 flat-panel speaker. The IM500 is designed for travelers who want a very compact and durable speaker, as well as the ability to charge their iPod nano while it plays. At $129.95 list, this speaker is a bit on the expensive side, and the bass performance isn't particularly impressive, but overall the sound is great for such a wafer-thin product.

Bottom Line

Overall, the Altec Lansing inMotion IM500 is a solid product that is well suited to travel, thanks to its durability and ultrathinness, but you can squeeze only so much power from such a small speaker.

Pros

Very thin. Durable. Full sound for the size.

Cons

Sound distorts significantly as you approach top volume. No tone controls or volume indicator.
