Klipsch iGroove HG

Klipsch iGroove HG
Full Set With PSP Angle

review

Klipsch is one of the most respected speaker manufacturers on the planet, dating back to the introduction of the Klipschorn speaker in 1946. The company has maintained this reputation in the 21st century with digital-age products such as the Klipsch iFi. The new Klipsch iGroove HG ($249 direct) is an update of the company's original iGroove, and it offers Apple iPod users good sound quality in a compact, innovatively designed, one-piece speaker. (The HG stands for High Gloss, indicating the glossy black finish on the unit.) The iGroove HG competes directly with products like the popular Bose SoundDock; but although it offers some advantages and is quite a bit cheaper, it's not quite the ultimate iPod speaker.

Bottom Line

The iGroove HG costs less than the Bose SoundDock, but it doesn't quite sound as good. It does have a couple of nice touches, though, and strong output.

Pros

Good sound quality. Attractive design. Strong output power. J-cup adapter for non-Apple MP3 players gives it aesthetic versatility.

Cons

No battery operation. No tone controls. No volume indicator.
