Looking very much like something out of the movie Stargate, the JBL On Time ($249.99 list) is one of the most interestingly designed iPod speakers on the market. It combines iPod charging/playback, FM/AM radio, and dual–alarm clock functions while providing exceptional sound quality. The blue backlit LCD can be a bit difficult to see from some angles—I'd have preferred a large LED—but the brightness and contrast are adjustable and the text size should suffice for most users. The On Time isn't cheap, but you get some pretty good bang for your buck.
