DLO HomeDock Deluxe for iPod

The DLO HomeDock Deluxe for iPod is the first dock to offer TV-screen navigation of your iPod. It's a pretty straightforward product for integrating your iPod into your home stereo system, and it has a video pass-through so that you can play photos or video on your TV screen (as well as accessing DLO's version of the iPod interface). This is a huge improvement over the previous generation of docks such as the original HomeDock and the Kensington Stereo Dock, which made you navigate the iPod's tiny screen from 10 feet away. The infrared remote is much bigger than the one that came with the original HomeDock, as it now accommodates 18 buttons, and the overall construction quality is also better. Overall, I like the HomeDock Deluxe, but there are some issues you should be aware of before you buy one.

Bottom Line

I'm glad there's finally an iPod dock that lets you browse your iPod on a TV screen, but I'd still like to see digital output. It's weird that you can't browse your video collection on your TV screen, but at least you can play the videos themselves on the TV.

Pros

TV-based interface is easy to navigate. Very good sound and video quality. Setup is simple. Attractive design.

Cons

No digital output. An iPod limitation prevents you from browsing your video collection via TV interface. Cable ends aren't long enough.
