Altec Lansing jumps into the noise-isolating headphone market with an impressive first effort. The Altec Lansing inMotion IM616 is an excellent-sounding, very lightweight set of noise-isolating headphones available in black for $149.95 (direct). We were a bit surprised at the level of sound quality until we learned that Altec Lansing partnered with none other than Etymotic Research to create the IM616.

Bottom Line

These are very accurate-sounding noise-isolating earphones, but if you're into thumping bass, you may want to look elsewhere.

Pros

Very accurate sound. Good noise isolation. Very light weight.

Cons

Not particularly comfortable for extended periods. The bulky carrying case is just silly.
