Bose SoundDock Digital Music System

Bose SoundDock Digital Music System

REVIEW

Back to Pump Up Your Portable Player Bose and Apple both produce elegant products that command high prices by emphasizing design, innovation, and ease of use. So we're not surprised that Bose would produce an iPod-docking speaker system that's the best-sounding portable speaker we've heard—and the costliest.

Bottom Line

The SoundDock is designed to be used only as an external speaker system for late-model iPods. If this is what you're looking for — and if you can live with its hefty price tag and not-so-portable size and weight — you'll be knocked out by its outstanding sound quality and lease-breaking volume levels.

Pros

Ear-splitting volume levels; great sound; wireless remote.

Cons

Large and heavy; incompatible with older iPods; can't be connected to a computer; lacks deep-bass output; expensive.
