The Shure E3c canal phones are positioned against the Etymotic ER6i phones, and they include a "fit kit" with eartips of several different sizes and materials. We found that the single-flange gray rubber tips and the foam tips worked best, but the foam material is rough and prone to collecting dirt; also, it was somewhat uncomfortable once it had expanded in our ear canals.

The rubber tips are comfortable, and with three sizes, you can be assured an adequate fit. Bass response is lacking, though, and boosting the EQ doesn't help—the E3c phones have nothing more to give you at low frequencies. High frequencies hit a wall at 8 kHz and drop nearly 20 dB.
