NEC MultiSync LCD1970GX

NEC MultiSync LCD1970GX

REVIEW

The 19-inch NEC MultiSync LCD1970GX ($550 street) monitor offers an impressive array of features. It boasts an 8-ms pixel-response rate, dual signal inputs, four powered USB ports, and a slick user interface with a tiny joystick on the front panel. Unfortunately, the spec sheet does not accurately predict the user's experience with this monitor.

Bottom Line

NEC-Mitsubishi touts this 19-inch monitor as excellent for viewing videos, playing games, and editing digital photos, but the MultiSync LCD1970GX fails to live up to expectations. It has features that some users may want, such as USB ports and a clear-coat covering on the panel, but these are not enough to overcome its weaknesses.

Pros

Analog and digital inputs. Includes powered USB ports. Well-labeled front-panel controls and easy-to-use on-screen menu.

Cons

Weak viewing-angle performance. Weak response on both ends of the gray scale. Significant smearing of moving images in spite of the panel's 8-ms pixel-response rating.

Welcome to a revolutionary new dimension in LCD TV technology. With a depth of less than one inch at its thinnest point, and a contrast ratio of 1 million to 1, the AQUOS Limited Edition Series is the culmination of 35 years of Sharp’s LCD innovation. Unmatched picture quality, ultra-thin design, and low energy consumption: it will change the way you watch TV. Part of Sharp’s line of 120 Hz LCD TVs.
