Back to Pump Up Your Portable PlayerThe two-piece Benwin Sonixer USB-D 2.0 may look like a scale model of an audiophile flat-panel speaker system, but it doesn't produce particularly accurate sound and has little bass. These aren't fatal flaws in an $80 portable system, but they make it hard to recommend when compared with some of the competition.

Bottom Line

The Sonixer draws power from the same USB connection through which it receives its digital-audio input. But its near-total lack of bass and unimpressive sound quality overall make it a hard system to recommend with enthusiasm.
