ViewSonic WMA100

ViewSonic WMA100

REVIEW

Keep your eyes on ViewSonic. It has one of the nicest (except in looks) digital media adapters in the ViewSonic WMA100. It is chock-full of features and offers a companion hard drive media gateway that lets you access your media without going through a PC. It's a strong first effort, and could become even better once the company straightens out a few usability glitches.

Bottom Line

The ViewSonic WMA100 is a well-thought-out digital media hub with an optional separate hard disk media gateway that can be directly connected without going through a PC. Despite some minor annoyances (and its Soviet-style design), it's a fine first effort.

Pros

Wired and wireless digital media hub with optional hard drive/gateway ($399 or $499 extra). Internet radio. Universal remote. Compact design. Outputs to TV or monitor.

Cons

Square-edged gray-and-grayer box is terribly unattractive. New-device glitches. Hard drive gateway may have more features (and cost) than you want.
