Ambir Visigo Photo Scanner

Ambir Visigo Photo Scanner

REVIEW

The Ambir Visigo Photo Scanner ($149.95 direct) offers both less and more than the name promises. It offers less, because it's limited to a maximum 4- by 9-inch scan area, which means you can't, for example, scan 5-by-7 photos. But it's more in that it's just the right size for scanning business cards, although you'll need to buy software elsewhere.

Bottom Line

The Ambir Visigo Photo Scanner has strong gadget appeal as a 7.2-ounce sheet-fed scanner no larger than a stapler. Unfortunately, its small size also translates to limited usefulness, with a maximum scan area of 4 by 9 inches. One saving grace: It can also serve as a business-card scanner.

Pros

Highly portable (about the size of a stapler). Powered via USB. Works as a business-card scanner with third-party software.

Cons

Photo quality is less than ideal. Limited to a maximum 4-by-9 photo size.
