The Canon Elura 60 is an affordable, easy-to-use MiniDV camcorder that produces good video and, for a 1.3-megapixel camera, good still images. The Elura 60 is leaner on features than its higher-priced siblings, the Elura 65 and 70 (which provide flash and lamp-assisted autofocus options), but it's a good buy.

Bottom Line

A worthy device for the price, the Canon Elura 60 is extremely easy to operate, with decent video quality. It's a little light on the features (such as flash and autofocus assist lamp) usually found in more expensive devices, however.

Pros

Easy to operate. 14X optical zoom. 2.5-inch LCD. Adjustable EVF. Decent video quality. Has an SD slot for still captures. Offers manual adjustments.

Cons

Mediocre still-image capture. Lack of headlight, hot shoe, or flash makes low-light shooting problematic.
