If you care about output quality more than anything else and you're on a tight budget for purchase price, the Epson Stylus C66 ($70 street) may well be your printer of choice. It offers among the best overall output quality of any ink jet, period.

The Epson Stylus C66 offers among the best output available from any ink jet printer at any price, with ratings of excellent for text and just short of excellent for photos.

Pros

Low price. Surprisingly good-looking text for an ink jet. Photos fall just short of excellent. DuraBrite ink is water-resistant once it dries.

Cons

Slow performance for both business applications and photos.
