By definition, the Acer 1712 is a notebook, though it's not trying to be the kind you commute with daily. It fills the need of those who want desktop power and parts, but are either space constrained—living in an apartment or dorm—or simply want portable freedom. Acer manages to offer this all for less than $2000—the best bang for the buck you're going to get.

acer really has hit with this excellent monster. and it's under $1900? this is too good to be true. the specs are superb and it's going for a reasonable price too. if there was more than a 5 rating, i would give it!
